1934 Our charter
The charter was formalized on May 25, establishing the founding date we celebrate today.
We’re local men, ages 20–39, who volunteer and raise money for children in Douglas County. The club has been part of the valley since 1934.
You may know us from Carson Valley Days or the egg hunt at Lampe Park. We also help with school shopping, youth sports, food drives, and Project Santa Claus. We partner with organizations such as MeFIYI to support their scholarship programs.
The Active 20-30 Club of Carson Valley no. 85 gives young men a chance to take on that work together. Members plan events, serve food, raise money, and help wherever a project needs hands. We meet on Wednesdays at the old Gardnerville jail.
Our counterpart, Active 20-30 Club of Carson City #140, is the women’s club. Both clubs are for ages 20–39.
Come to a meeting
Our charter was formalized on May 25, 1934. That is the date we recognize as the founding of the club.
The early club reflected the valley’s ranching community. Over the years, its membership grew to include men from a range of trades and professions. In a 2006 profile in The Record-Courier, members talked about carrying on local traditions and the friendships they had made along the way.
Carson Valley Days has been a large part of that story. The celebration began in Minden in 1910, before our club existed. Its official history dates the club’s organization of the festival to 1946. Proceeds help fund the children’s programs we support.
Our meeting place has a history of its own. Newspaper records connect the club with the Gardnerville Branch Jail as far back as 1973. Members still meet in the upstairs room that once served as a justice court.

The festival’s official account dates the club’s role as organizer to 1946, following the Second World War. The parade was added that year.
Carson Valley Days became a multi-day festival.
A December 6 newspaper report described the club working on the jail’s lower floor. This documents an early connection; it does not establish an exact move-in date.
The festival moved to Lampe Park. The parade route changed direction, running from Minden toward Gardnerville.
Carson Valley Days, the spring egg hunt, and our other projects keep new generations of members involved in the valley.
